The Orphanage was opened in1998, and is one of newest orphanages in Kamchatka.  The orphanage is a separate building that stands on its own. There are 32 children ages 7 - 18.

The boys live in one separate room, the girls in another one. The headmistress leads a policy that says that children should participate in different activities, take sports, they organize different concerts, and some children go to a music school. Children have courses of painting, hand making, and theatre performances. Children go around Kamchatka to hot springs, where they swim and bath. They go sightseeing, to museums, monuments. We bring our Rotary guests and volunteers to the Orphanage, a lot of projects were made there. The Orphanage publishes a newspaper where they write about their news, success, activities, they also make a year calendar, where they mark the most important events, and different projects they do.  Director: Dugova Tamara

The description of the Project. Our Avachinsky Rotary Club has made several projects for the Orphanage#6. We bought a bus for them and a laundry washer. The state gives a certain amount of money that is enough for good food, clothes, projects for children, and activities!  Unfortunately, we have to admit, that  the children don’t have enough professional skills that will give them an opportunity to have a good job in future. The Orphanage doesn’t really put much attention to this important fact. Nowadays, such skills as using the office equipment (fax machine, copy machine, printer, scanner, photo camera, and phone) are very important in any job.  These skills are not like something that is not requied when applying for a normal job, they are necessary for a person to know so they will be qualified for positions in the workforce..

One of our  Avachinsky Club is the director of a business school LINK; this school has a computer class, office equipment and a teacher who is ready to be a volunteer in this project. What we want is to do is to teach children skills that are really useful, that will help them in the future. We want to make colorful materials for them; we would like to teach them to make booklets, calendars, to work with photos, to make wall newspapers with them. It will make it more colorful and picturesque for them during our grey long winter; it will attract their attention and make them enthusiastic in their work, and the colorful works that they will get in the end, shows them the results of their efforts. The school doesn’t have a color printer for these type of projects, nor anything that that would do the work to make it easier and interesting.  The next step is to include children  from other orphanages in Kamchatka in these  projects.
