The Villages of Maloe Goloustnoe and Bolshoe School . Goloustnoe is situated near the shoreline of Lake Baikal.  The school in Maloe Goloustnoe has been teaching pupils for more than 80 years now.  The school's principle direction for future development is to establish an Ecological Educational program.  The pupils (158 altogether) regularly take part in contests and other activities focused on improving the ecological preservation of Lake Baikal.

                         Lessons and Projects

Our immediate goal is to purchase tools and equipment for boy-creative lessons and club "Creative Hands”. It will give our pupils an opportunity to make wood carvings and other similar souvenirs. This will allow our pupils to become creative and later in life, self sufficient.

Our Project Aims are:

1 - To involve the children in academic studies and "Creative Hands" activities in the club, which will provide an interesting and healthy lifestyle with the aim of reducing anti-social behavior.

2 - To provide the school and children the opportunity to earn money through the sale of any souvenirs made.  There is a high level of unemployment in the village and any money raised by the sale of souvenirs would be extremely useful.

The number of tourists in the area is increasing but, as yet, there are literally no souvenirs that represent the local area.  The carvings and other items made by the school would allow tourists to purchase souvenirs of their visit and stimulate our economy.
