Facilities - Khabarovsk - Iktanko foster family (Facility Code: Khabarovks 6)

The Khabarovsk RC is interested in supporting a new concept in Russia, the foster family.  This is one of the foster families.  The husband and wife actually have two of their own children plus the foster children.  The Club wants to promote the foster family concept by giving support to families that have taken in children.  The Club wants to provide specific support for the children for things such as clothing, school supplies and maybe even a computer.  They wanted the foster children to have the personal items that most school children their age would have.  Obviously, families such as this one, can not afford all these items. The photos show a very modest and small house that had four small rooms plus a kitchen.  The outside photos show a barn, outhouse, woodshed, and garden.  All the land around the house is devoted to garden.  All water for the family is brought from a community water source several blocks away.  The water must be boiled before drinking.  Heating during the winter was done with wood.
