Orphan Act - Russia - Participating Russian Rotary Clubs

At the very end of outgoing 2004 year, initiative group of five persons met with the purpose of establishing new public organization, directed to providing help for destitute people. At first a format of club's activities was approved. The format of organization means for us that all its members feel themselves maximum comfortable and we maintain informal atmosphere of relations. As a result of the fact that most of people from initiative group had big experience in Rotarian activities, they decided to accept principles of this movement and later on joining the Rotary International as a full member.

Club was growing to 25 people during two years of existence. More then 12 social and international projects, aimed at aid to orphans and to poor families, were realized during this period of time. Some actions were realized for city accomplishment and organization of summer holidays for children. Becoming traditional club's charity evenings are financial base for making a reality of realizing expensive treatment for children from poor families. It is significant, that most of club's members are initiative people in the most of energetic age between 30 and 40 years old, from this it follows our name - Rotary club "Novosibirsk-Initiative".

Aim of Club

From the very beginning, the aim of the Rotary Club "Novosibirsk-Initiative" activities is rendering of comprehensive aid to destitute people through mobilization of social, intellectual and material reserves of society, both in territorial borders of club, and over its limits.

Priority orientations of club's work

According to above-mentioned aim, principles of Rotary International activities and the most actual problems, that exist in territorial branches of club's activities, we formulated following priority orientations of organization's work:

· aid to orphans: increasing of material well-being of children, social adaptation in society, medical service, organization of their spare time;

· organization of qualified medical care for destitute children from poor families;

· aid to invalids: teaching of new professions, making particularized working places, participation in international sportive and other competitions, co-participating in providing medical service;

· realizing youth programs: help in job placement, international events and exchanges, organization of summer camps;

· local activities for city accomplishment : creating of parks, children's playgrounds and sport facilities, ecological actions;

· International programs for struggle with the hunger, illnesses and consequences of natural disasters.
