“Furniture for the Orphanage # 10”

Bonus Charitable Project

“Playground for children from the boarding school in Mashkovo for mentally retarded children”

We bought all necessary furniture for the orphanage # 10, but the total budget of this project is less then 5000 USD because of the price policy of furniture producers.

We work with other orphanages in our region, which are in need of help, and we decided to coordinate with OrphanAct, with Steve Moksnes in person,  the possibility of using the rest of money for another charitable project. 

His reply was positive, our report is below.

This project involves purchasing new furniture for an orphanage in Novosibirsk.  The project is sponsored by the Novosibirsk Rotaract Club.  The project may be broken down into smaller projects for specific peices of furniture.

A small orphanage (№ 10), is situated at the geographical centre of Russia, in Novosibirsk.This is an orphanage which lives up to its name - "Snug”.Around 30 children live there altogether. They were exposed by their parents and deprived of an opportunity to live in a normal family. Their destiny is hard and incomprehensible, but it’s not their fault.

Every child in the orphanage is a unique individual, who needs a special approach and care. Teachers try to create a warm domestic surrounding that helps to prevent children from loneliness and open the pleasures of the normal life. All necessary conditions are met, there is a school based within the orphanage which allows and gives the children the education they need to unveil the potential each of them holds. This in turn gives them a chance to become a full member of society.

State support is very important for us, but, unfortunately, it’s not enough. The orphanage is situated along the borders of two districts. This makes getting any additional material help impossible.

“Snug” is now facing a difficult time. We have many problems that have accumulated since the development of the orphanage 10 years ago. The main problems now are the organization of a  complete overhaul in the orphanage’s building as well as the substitution of old furniture, which is just as old as the building itself. 

The possibility of using old furniture is now out the question. Much of which is beyond repair and almost worthless. Due to the growing number of children in the orphanage there is simply not the amount of furniture available to allow everyone the comfort they require and deserve. A dream to make our own library where kids can spend their spare time didn’t come true, all because we don’t have special bookshelves to do it. That’s why books are now kept on the floor.

Rotary foundation productively works with many orphanages. Children from the orphanage “Snug” want to feel the care of this world famous charitable fund too. What we have, you can see in our presentation. And this is a modest request from us and we hope to get help in its realization from you:

1. Two large fitted custom-made multifunctional cupboards. Cost of the one cupboard is about 40000 rubles (total 80000 r.);
      2. Four sofas. Cost of the one sofa is 4000 rubles (total 16000 r.);
       3. One cabinet (30000 r.);
       4. One custom-made bookcase. Cost of it is about 15000 r.      
       Total required sum for this project is: $5000.
