In this project, sweaters, hand-made by Guide Post volunteers were shipped to orphanages in Vladavostok, at Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea's expense, for children in several orphanages.

Guideposts have offered us a pallet of hand-knitted children sweaters (15 boxes, 450 sweaters) to be shipped and distributed to the orphaned children in Vladivostok, Russia. Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea raised $963 for shipping the sweaters from New York. Rotary club "Vladivostok" is helping to distribute the sweaters to the children at the local orphanages. This is a high visibility project involving several international organizations working together. We will keep updating this document with pictures, thank you letters, news stories and more.
The Guideposts Sweater Project receives more than 40,000 knitted or crocheted sweaters from donors annually. These gifts of love are
distributed to organizations, both large and small, serving needy

Project Updates
09/30/2004: $963 was sent to the shipping company
10/03/2004: 30 boxes (450 sweaters) were shipped to Vladivostok, Russia
11/30/2004: the sweaters were received by the OrphanAct coordinator in Vladivostok
12/01/2004: the sweaters are being distributed at the orphanages in Vladivostok
12/13/2004: expected completion date is 12/31/2004 – please see pictures below
