Maui and Montana Rotarians visited the Summer Camp where a ten thousand dollars-plus grant made rafts and bikes available to the camp. The grant came from the US taxpayers, Rotary District 5010 (Alaska-Siberia) the Rotary Clubs of Kahului(Maui) Upcountry (Maui) and Barnaul (Siberia). More than 100 children attend this camp at no charge.
This project gives children at risk an opportunity to go to summer camp. This project involves a USAID/IREX U.S. goverment grant for almost eight thousand dollars to pay for supplies and the actual camping experience. This is a matching grant opportunity, but it is not a traditional Rotary matching grant. The grants from the Rotary Clubs of Kahului and Upcountry was matched by the U.S. goverment, The Rotary Club of Barnaul, and a District 5010 District Simplified Grant . The figures are listed below:
Rotary Club of Barnaul $ 500 IREX 7,892 District 5010 1,315 Maui Rotaries: Kahului and Upcountry 815 Project total $10,522
