The Rotary Club of Biysk seeks a large sum to purchase sports equipment for the gymnasium and game room in Biysk Orphan Home Number 2. The home houses 50 children ages 5 thru 18. Right now, these children have no opportunity for indoor sports and exercise, especially during the winter. There are hiking and other outdoor activities during the late spring, summer and early fall. But the winters are very long. Games and exercise during the whole year will do wonders for our orphans, keeping them healthier, stronger and more ready to compete with children from full families.
The equipment will be placed in a room being renovated with funds provided by an organization in Lenox, California.
The children are divided into eight “Families.” Each family lives in a flat equipped with a TV, video set, and radio. Common areas are the dining room, kitchen, assembly, library and a shop used for embroidery, painting and making ceramic toys and other objects.

According to wikipedia.com. the "gymnasium" functioned as a training facility for competitors in public games. Because the Greeks recognized the strong correlation between, exercise, health, competitive sports and mental growth, the ancient gymnasium soon became a place for more than exercise. The Rotary Club of Biysk seeks to bring some of these benefits to the children in Orphanage #2.
