The Novosibirsk-Center Rotary Club seeks an annual endowment of about $3,300 to fund a series of concerts to several orphanages of Novosisbirsk: Baryshevo Orphanage, Special Orphanage in Bugrinskay Roscha, Children’s Tuberculosis Hospital, and others.  The concerts will be conducted by young students of the Music School Number 1 in Novosibirsk.  The Novosibirsk-Center club provides scholarships to the music school for several talented children from low income families.  With the limited funds available to the school, the flute is the primary instrument taught.  Flutes are easy to carry.

The plan is to take the student musicians to many orphanages in the area and conduct about 15 to 20 concerts annually.  Perhaps 20-40 orphans may attend each performance.

Funding is needed for:

1.  Arranging the concerts and providing transportation to the orphanages.

2.  Purchase and repair of musical instruments for the musicians.

3.  Provide prizes for the musicians and mementos for the orphans attending.

4.  Provide for refreshments for the audience and performers at the concerts.

In addition to the funds provided by generous US Rotaries, the Novosibirsk club will also raise local funds for this project.  They seek partial assistance from the world of Rotary.

The club wishes to provide an audience for the musical students and to demonstrate the beauty of and opportunities in music to the orphans.  The orphans will see kids of their same age performing.    Rotary and the Music School wil make every effort to foster a love of music in each and every orphan and to inspire some to pursue further education in music.
