Altai Children´s School of Arts for orphans and children from underprivileged families.
ALTAI SCHOOL AND ROTARY CLUB OF BARNAUL REQUEST $12,000
Description of the school:
PROJECT REQUEST: Now the students and teachers have a dream-- to create a school folk instruments orchestra . As is well known, it would be great if dreams came true. We are suggesting that you take part in this unique project. Purchase of note stands, a special acoustic system and several different musical instruments.
HISTORY OF RELATIONSHIP WITH SCHOOL: In the course of 5 years th Rotary Club of Barnual has done 3 projects with the Aya school. The first project was the purchase of a piano, which was bought with the help of a matching grant. This project immensely helped the development of the children's institution and set off a wave of further philanthropic deeds among the locals. Due to these events, the school finished building another structure that had been dormant for several years with the help of staff, students and locals all helping out. The second project, what we called “Altai Toy” was the purchase of an kiln for baking the clay toys, also with the help of a matching grant. Once this oven was in place the students were then able to receive training in the trade of artwork to make some toys and artwork for sale to tourists.
Our third project, done with the help of OrphanAct, was the purchase of a heating oven “Buleran” , which greatly shortened the construction of another new building for the school.
UPDATE ON SCHOOL: Each new school year began with more and more good news. With the expansion of the school more qualified music teachers started working there. Now kids can learn to play on the saxophone but they can do so only by using their teachers' instruments because nobody there has enough money to buy them for themselves. For a good education it is of course better when both teachers and students have their own instruments.
COMMENTS: We're grateful for everything you've already done for our children and for whatever help you'll be able to support us with our children in the future.
Best regards,
Inna Gorbatenko |
