Executive Summary
Mission Statement:
OrphanAct’s mission is to provide on-going supplemental humanitarian aid to orphanages, homeless children's shelters, hospitals for abandoned babies, and other facilities for children-in-need on every continent.
Unique features of OrphanAct:
OrphanAct uses the power of the internet to display pictures of children and projects so that service organizations and individuals may easily select a project to sponsor or a facility to adopt.
How OrphanAct works:
- In-country Rotary clubs select children's facilities that they would like to have a long-term relationship with.
- They work with the local director to identify needs of the facility.
- They take photos of the children, and the children's facilities.
- The photos and text are posted on the OrphanAct website.
- A Children's Action Team is created to support the facility.
- Organizations and individuals worldwide access the website, see the photos and then adopt a faciltiy.
- When a facility is chosen, OrphanAct works with the team to identify projects and programs that the facility needs and then helps to get the program in place or the projects completed.
- These teams are meant to provide long term support to a facility.
- If an organization or individual would like to fund a one-time project instead of adopting a children's facility, projects are availalbe on each individual country's website.
